The different look of fabrics

Did you purchase a digital template but aren’t sure how important fabric content is for your label? Take a look at this page where I have photographs of the different ink and fabrics for both sublimation and inkjet to help you decide.

This shows two different labels. On the bottom one a block of white fabric behind the label showing that a dark backing can show through the label and you might need a backing fabric to the label.

Label sayings

What else do you want to say on your label? Do you want to make it warm and fuzzy or maybe a little sassy? Maybe a poem? Come see what I have listed and get your creative juices flowing.

Original and 3rd washing for 100% cotton label.

Changes when washed

Check this page to see how the different substrates change when washed. The image here is printed with inkjet ink on 100% cotton and the 1st wash. Yikes!

Lining fabric with light to medium interfacing- shows the ripple of the label with the batting shrinking.

Look and feel

Do you think you need to use interfacing with your polyester label? The answer might surprise you.

Photo of a large (Solo) quilt label. It has two horses on it and the words have their names and at the bottom is "The long awaited joining of two herds."
The label has been finished with half square triangles on the two 'free' edges that are not sewn into the label.

Finishing your Label

You’ve printed your label or ordered it from me- now you need to finish it. This is what I do to finish mine so it is ready to place on the quilt.
